CE marking and ECE type approval are not the same thing, and both are relevant to a fog lamp. CE marking covers the European product requirements; the E-mark is the vehicle lighting type approval. On models that hold an approval the E-mark is applied permanently to the housing together with the issuing country code, the applicable regulation and the approval number. Approval numbers can be verified against the published ECE regulation, and the paperwork is available on request. An approval belongs to the product and to the manufacturer who holds it, and cannot simply be added to a lamp.
